Should I Collect Zippo Lighters?

Friday, February 5th, 2010

I’m 13 and thinking if I should start collecting Zippo lighters. I know all the safety rules about lighters. I’m just wandering if it’s a little wierd for a 13 year old to be collecting lighters. I think that my parents won’t be so happy about the fact of me having a lighter. If you say no, please have a suggestion on what to collect. Thank You.

What Should I Get My Fiance For His Wedding Gift?

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Ok I am getting married next month and I need a little bit of help with wedding gift. We have been dating for almost 4 years so I have pretty much given him everything that he has ever said he wanted. For our one year anniversary I gave him a Harley Davidson plated zippo with his initials engraved onto it and he lost it so I found another one a couple of months ago and have been hiding it. Well he ended up bfinding one too and buying it and was going to go get it engraved so i had to give it to him because I didn’t want him to waste the money. So that was my first option. Well then I wanted to give him a gift certificate to go skydiving but with the wedding and having to already take almost 2 weeks off of work for that and the honeymoon I decided that I am going to give him that next year on our anniversary. So does anybody have any ideas of what I could do? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Are All Premium Butane Brands Made Of The Same Triple Refined Butane, Or Should I Use The Name Brand Butane?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I recently purchased a Xikar Eris lighter, unfortunately the Xikar site is out of Xikar butane. So until then i wont use the lighter or i could use my Zippo premium Butane fuel. Will the Zippo brand clog the lighter, hinder its performance, or void the warranty? Or are all premium butane fuels the same? also my Xikar sounds like it has something rattling around inside of it, is that normal?
Thank You!

What Should I Get Engraved On My Girlfriends New Zippo Lighter?

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Hello and thank you for reading this! My name is Jamie and I just bought my girlfriend, Dakota, a brand new Zippo. She’s been wanting this one for a very long time and I finally bought it for her on ebay! It just came in the mail today and I thought that I should engrave it to make it a little more personal. The only thing is, is that it’s a Zippo Spectrum and it looks pretty cool by itself (I’ll attach a link for a picture of the lighter at the bottom). What should I engrave on it, or should I just leave it alone. Thanks!https://www.sheepgatetackandtogs.co.uk/s…

Should I Remove the Band When Smoking a Cigar?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

One of the most relaxing and satisfying feelings is when you finally find a few moments in the day that are all your own, when you can unwind with a nice cigar. However, cigar smoking is not as easy as just grabbing a stogie and lighting it up.

You will find that there are certain traditions and even rules of etiquette that you will want to follow when smoking. Everything from choosing the type of cigar to choosing the right pipe lighters, and even whether or not to remove the band, are very important decisions that you will need to make.

Consider the band on the cigar. Is it right to leave the band on? Well, this depends on a couple of things. If you are simply having a quiet evening at home alone and you want to light up, there is no problem with leaving the band on the cigar. Keep in mind though that if you keep the band on when you are smoking among friends who are cigar aficionados or at a public place, leaving on the band could be thought of as a breach of etiquette. Why would something as simple as a band on a cigar matter?

The band acts as a label, and this label can tell others everything about the cigar. They will know the type of cigar, they will know where it was made, and they will even have a good idea of how much you spent on the cigar. Knowing all of these things can give people a preconceived impression of you as a person. If you smoke expensive cigars, you could find that some people become envious and they will think that you are simply trying to brag about how much you are able to spend for your cigars. Even though this isn’t your intention, it can cause people to get the wrong idea.

All of the different rules of etiquette are things that you will learn over time. Taking the band off your cigar is easy. In many cases, you will be able to slip the band off the cigar even before you light it. However, you will find that the label will come off even easier when you light the cigar and smoke for a moment - it loosens the band and will make it quite simple to slip off the cigar so that you can discard it.
